Because girls just want to have fun…and make art and look at pretty things.
Happy Independence Day! I woke up early and headed to the studio with a fresh start on this gorgeous sunny day in SF.
I’m currently working on some pieces for a show this fall at the fabulous Bacchus in Russian Hill. Details to come. I’m nodding back to a style that I showed at Jeffrey Allen in Portland, where I took much inspiration from the antique Buddhas that also found a home there. At that time though, I was sitting on the floor in my mama’s foyer, painting away. Now I’m sitting on the floor of my San Francisco studio, painting and feeling grateful for the journey.
I can’t help but see the fireworks in this (disclaimer: work-in-progress!) piece, and I took some extra inspiration from Katy Perry this morning as I worked (this also lead to a spontaneous dance party).
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Being involved with Guactacular 2013 inspired me to create a new batch of Avocado kitchen accessories, aptly called “AvoCata Kitchen” via CafePress! Feeling the love for avocados today, and everyday…

I am SO excited and honored to be a part of Nachos NY’s Guactacular 2013–the most fabulous guacamole competition and event for foodies and guacamole enthusiasts alike. Guactacular will be taking place on Cinco de Mayo (this Sunday, May 5) at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY. You can still get your tickets here!
Although I can only attend in spirit (I will be at home making my own batch of guac….siiiigh) my heart AKA prints of my artwork(!) will be in attendance. Signed, matted prints of my ‘Ode to Avocado’ artwork will be awarded to the grand prize winners of the competition. Because let’s be honest, the very best guacamole makers deserve the very best in life. Clearly.
If you don’t know the talent behind Nachos NY, you should. These guys are the ultimate nachos connoisseurs and enthusiasts (their book just came out!) and I am dreaming of the day that Guactacular goes bi-coastal. I had so much fun collaborating with Lee on these prints!

And a sneak peek at the awards!
“Avocados are Miracles: Guactacular 2013”. Matted, signed and ready to go!
A tiny avocado ribbon as the finishing touch…Voila!
And in conclusion, a shout out to my very favorite Nachos establishment here in SF, Nick’s Crispy Tacos!
For the love of guac!
Thank you to all who came by or sent support (both near and far!) to my Spring Open Studios event at Art Explosion last weekend. It was indeed a celebration of friends, good wine, color and love- and that’s what it’s all about anyways, isn’t it?
Here are a few fab pics from the evening!
Cheers and see you next time!!
I am very excited to be a part of another “Open Studios” weekend with my wonderful art collective, The Art Explosion, here in San Francisco. I hope you will join me on March 22, 2013 for the opening reception gala from 7-11pm!!
Hope to see you there, xo!!
